Drs. Christine Carqueville (CA3), Andy Hall (CA2), and Ross Gaudet (CA1) made up the University of Chicago team at the ISA Resident Jeopardy Contest on Nov. 8th 2013. The team emerged victorious after a grueling demonstration of quick-thinking and deep medical knowledge among multiple other residency program teams. Congratulations!
Please join me in offering our heartfelt congratulations to Allen Gustin, M.D., who has been named a Fellow of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators. Fellows of the Academy are selected based on significant contributions to the education of medical students, as well as recognized excellence in teaching.
The Center for Care and Discovery, which opened in February 2013, serves as the new core of the University of Chicago Medicine campus. The futuristic, 10-story, 1.2 million-square-foot facility fosters collaboration and interaction among clinicians and staff to actively engage our patients and families in their care. It is spacious, easy to navigate and filled with natural light.
The University of Chicago Medicine is ranked among the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013-14 "Best Hospitals" survey.
Please join me in offering our congratulations to Dr. Barbara Scavone who was recently elected to the position of President of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP). SOAP is the largest organization of its kind internationally; it was founded in 1968 to provide a forum for discussion of problems unique to the peripartum period and is comprised of anesthesiologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, and basic scientists who share an interest in the care of the pregnant patient and newborn. Congratulations, Barbara!
