Sleep Walkers for the 2014 American Heart Association Heart Walk
The University of Chicago Medical Center has once again partnered with the American Heart Association in their lifesaving mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. To that end, we are participating in the AHA’s signature fund-raising event, the Heart Walk. In addition to raising vital funds for heart disease and stroke research and education, the Heart Walk engages companies to promote healthy lifestyles for children and adults. UCMC shows their commitment to the health of their employees and community with a fundraising goal of $100,000.

Drs. Tom Cutter and BobbieJean Sweitzer have been elected to Membership in the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA). The mission of AUA is that advancement of the Art and Science of Anesthesiology by the encouragement of its members to pursue original investigations in the clinic and in the laboratory and the development of the method of teaching anesthesiology. Election to this highly prestigious organization is limited to a very small number of anesthesiologists nationally and is based entirely upon accomplishments in the field.

Congrats to Julius Hamilton new ISA Resident-President Elect!
After a few weeks of voting between three candidates, our own Julius Hamilton, M.D. was announced the new Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists Resident-President Elect for the 2014-15 year. He continues the long tradition of UC residents holding this position. He started August 1st and will take over as the President this time next year. Congratulations Julius!
Drs. Christine Carqueville (CA3), Andy Hall (CA2), and Ross Gaudet (CA1) made up the University of Chicago team at the ISA Resident Jeopardy Contest on Nov. 8th 2013. The team emerged victorious after a grueling demonstration of quick-thinking and deep medical knowledge among multiple other residency program teams. Congratulations!
